PCB (also called proto-boards by some) require that the electronics are soldered in place. It is good for some so that they do not need to make a custom board, but it still allows them the strenth and durability of a custom board.

I think you want a bread board something like figure D on http://www.elexp.com/bb_101.htm. They are more expensive then protoboards, but you do not have to solder the components in place. This allows you to quicly add or remove parts. One of the problems is that wires and some components have the ability to get loose and cause problems.
