Hello, I'm new here, so thanks for letting me join. I always have off the wall "wonderings" about how to make things better but not sure how to do them, so thought I'd take this route. This time I want to try to modify an existing infrared light for a camcorder that has a chargeable battery and want to modify it to take a 9 volt battery instead. If that isn't possible or to difficult to do I was wondering how easy would it be to make an IR light with 36 850nm IR LED's and use a 9 volt battery as it's power supply.

So basically I want to take this light:

And make it run off of a 9 volt battery if possible. Can anyone help me out?

It is possible but won't be efficient unless the arrangement of the LED circuit is modified. This is because the light is configured to run at 3.7 volts. Instead you should use a battery holder that holds 3 AA batteries and use NiMH batteries that have around 1.2 volts per cell.
