Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building the hard drive oscilloscope. It's actually going very well. I am hoping to start DJing and with the wold of DJ's going to "VJ's" or Video DJ's, I thought that a laser scope projecting my waveform on the wall behind me would look cool and be relatively easy to setup.

So I have successfully soldered the coil to a wire which I can connect to whatever I desire. However simply hooking my MP3 or speaker output to this thing isn't nearly enough power, it will just minutely vibrate the needle. It needs more.

So an amp is the obvious answer... But I don't have one! Now I know a DJ without an amp is sad but nevertheless I was wondering if I could possible use a computer power supply and a DIY amp to amplify a ~200ish mV signal to a ~5ish V signal, which could then power the hard drive needle thus making the laser go up and down.

Thanks,
Cody

Hi Cody,

Sorry for the VERY late reply. That actually won't work you need to use audio to move the arm.
