I found this website and i have a few questions regarding it...

http://www.syste.ms/g36c/index.php

Ok first of all i am a noob when it comes to these things, so i was wondering if the schematic he provided/used is the best idea? could i use a PIC based one instead? Could i modify one of those Digg counters instead? and lastly how is the 74HC14N connected does he every say how it fits in the diagram?

He also states:
"74HC14N to stabilize IR sensor's trigger and send TTL signal to counter"
What is a TTL signal and is it really needed?

he also stated:
"As far as power goes, the new circuit uses the Motorola 14533 CMOS to multiplex the three digit displays which saves a lot of energy from having to power all three digits at the same time. Only one LED driver is needed because of that instead of three."

I could not find this anywhere....have any ideas?

THANKS FOR ANY KIND OF HELP!!!

You could use a circuit like this instead, just get rid of the 555 timer Very Happy

You could do it many ways but I would think that a microcontroller solution would be nice. I think you could it with the Digg button.

You would have to take a look at the code to see if there is a button push delay which could cause issues.

Hey i just found this as well, could something as simple as this be modified to fit my needs? Which is of course the counter, but also a 3 7 seg display would be preferred but 2 7seg. would do....does this attiny85 have enough processing power to run 3 7 seg. displays?

ALMOST forgot heres the link: http://www.robotroom.com/MultiSegmentLEDDisplay3.html

Thanks again!

Sounds like an interesting idea but you would have to buy the code and it would only work with this device

I am not exactly sure what the button does, I don't think it will count as you want but rather cycle through the possible characters.

Here is one, I don't use simulation software so I am not sure how good it is.
