word up people!

anyway, to the point.

i was wondering how easy it is to control the read/write head. actually, the actuator arm, to be more precise.

since their dead, i can't use a disk utility to get some activity, and besides, bios won't detect them...

SO! is it just a case of getting an AC current attached somewhere so that you get some frantic up down action?

linked is some footage i shot of a broke hard disk just powering up, with some index check movement (i presume), and steam being blown onto the platter. the head carves out a beautiful circle, obviously.... anyway, because theirs a newly applied layer of water on the surface, the head just slips back into the centre... ideally, i'd like to see some frantic head action....

infact what would be better, is getting the analogue input from music. so the movement is more organic... exactly like how Alan got...

infact, infact, alan has already told me about the voice coil.... of which i am glad to say i know nothing about!!!

are their any pointers you could give this young cow?

thanks for your time...
PEACE
E.H.

Glad to hear that it worked. One thing to watch out for is music with lots of bass will make it move violently and could burn it out, no problem playing it but turn it down before you start playing it. Post a video once you are done! I would love to see it. Cool
