I'm currently running an Intel 2.8 GHz P4 version D1 socket 478 Northwood 400 -533 FSB. My motherboard is the Intel 845GV. I'm running 1.5GB of 266 DDR2 RAM. I've found compatibility charts that show my mobo as compatible with the 3.03GHz 478 P4 and I'm trying to decide if I should overclock my 2.8 or go with a new 3.03 GHz P4.
From what I have seen on overclocking forums, people are getting good stable results on these D1 P4 CPUs. I've seen ranges of 3.2 to 3.5 GHz reported in differnt forums. Has anyone here overclocked a 2.8 P4 that could provide some additional information and results?
Also, when overclocking, what is necessary to provide more efficient cooling - fans, paste, new heatsink, water cooling? |
