I am using WinPic800+JDM to upload the bootloader from microchip onto PIC18F4550 but it doesnt work. I guess perhap I have the wrong setting for fuses of WinPic800.

Has anyone manage to flash microchip bootloader with WinPic800+JDM and successfully tried it with HID mouse example from microchip or VB.net example from Jan Axelson?

Please share your success story here. To include the Hex file, print screen of WinPic setting and schematic for PIC18F4550 USB interface are highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance....

Hi Eegi,

I use that programming software but with a different programmer and not for a bootloader so unfortunately I am not sure what the problem could be... What error are you getting?

in many computers JDM also does not work for PIC16877 as well .
It seems that some versions of JDM have a weak voltage for these larger
PICs , and In Circuit Serial Programming the voltage in VDD falls to 0 V
without external power supply.

It worked for me to add an external 5 volts
to both PICs and they begun to work well.

PS: The ICSP has 5 or 6 wires ( VSS VDD PGD PGC and VProg ) -
cut the VDD wire from ICSP cable ,
and add the 2 wires from external power supply of 5 volts to
PICs VDD(+) and VSS(-).
Regards,
Neto

Greetings,

I just try a mod for get more PICs programmed with this JDM Programmer.

1. Check the PIC pinout, and search the pin called "PGM". In PIC18F4550, that pin is the RB5/PGM pin. Put that pin to GND in serie with a 1K resistor.
This works fine with the PIC16F877A too.
2. Use winpic800 or ic-prog last version.... voila

Good luck
