Next you need mount the laser on a few servo motors and have it hunt for the receiver (auto tuning).  |

This is officially termed a laser bounce listener and has been in existance for decades not costing thousands of dollars for a high quality unit.
Why are the posters in that link so baffled over prior art? If I filmed a car in motion would they grasp their mouths in aw and say "look a mobile object!"
A 2 year old can solder better than that. This confirms the worst act of build it cheaper I have ever seen. From concept to constrution itty itty shi.... |

I wonder if you were to use a laser from a CD player, you could maybe use the built in photo diode for the detector. Plus it's IR
