HI all,
I need some help, I am an artist an am looking for someone to help me with a bluetooth file server. I imagine something that will look for bluetooth devices, connect with them and send a file. Ideally this thing would be self contained and solar powered and cheap to produce.
any ideas? |

Hi Ianpollock,
What is cheap? A laptop, solar panel, battery and invertor would do the trick (for the hardware). It would be under $1000. Is that over your budget? |

You might want to check out running FreeNAS with a webserver installed....
Use it for your fileserver stuff, since that is it's main operation, and attach a web front end.
I would install FreeNAS on a Compact Flash card...that way the drives aren't spinning just with OS functions. It would also be a huge power savings, because there are no spinning motors, and a lot less heat, so less fans. _________________ _ _ . . . . . . _ _ |

I like the idea of the compact flash. The laptop would certainly work, but i am hoping that one could build it al smaller. the flash memory aslo seems better in terms of power consuption. How do you make this program run on a flash memory? Any advice? |
