Would I have any trouble using a relay board on my pc to controll the lights and fan/ect in my room? Would it be able to handle the volts/amps from it all?
I was thinking of using an old pc to controll the lighting and ect in my room with a pc universal remote and a relayboard

It all depends on the relays that are being used. Do you have a link to the board you are using?

You can use a general purpose DC to AC relay to handle this...just make sure you have it rated for the correct voltage.

I remember seeing a ton of them with people who hooked their speaker outputs on their stereos to Christmas lights plugged into the wall.
