Is there anyway to have a song (preferably 3-4 on random) be played through a little speaker without having to use a large memory chip or what have you?
I'm thinking about a project involving having an audio file played when the box is opened (will be enclosed in a Altoids tin - that's why it needs to be small!)
Is there a PIC or something that can do this somewhat easily? I was even thinking about swiping one of those little things that you record your voice into from a place like Build-a-Bear or something and hacking that to do what I need it to.
Any help is greatly appreciated! |

Only thing I can think of is the Minty MP3, but it might be overkill. |

Whichever way you go, you are going to have to use some kind of Flash memory solution to store that music. _________________ _ _ . . . . . . _ _ |

I would think that building one out of the guts of a small MP3 player would be the easiest way to do it. There is lots that can be done with a soldering iron and some effort but it is not usually smaller than what is available commercially.
Have a look at the latest episode of inDigital Jessica shows off an MP3 player that is the same size as a credit card (fits into a credit card pocket in a wallet).

Does it have to be audio or would a simple tune work. You could use a musical greeting card. |
