Here's something I'm making Very Happy

I got the motors/wheels, casters and aluminum square tubing at Princes auto. I love that store! lol
I used JB Weld to put the frame together lol.

I'm going to put my eeepc on it. I'll use a PICAXE to execute simple commands received from a FreeBASIC program on the eeepc. Might use encoder disks, I'm not sure though. The power supply will likely be a lead acid battery. The motors are 12V, I thing I'll use this chip to drive them.

Got any tips? Let me know what you think Very Happy

Hopefully I'll finish it. I'm actually forcing myself to make this thing because I haven't done much with programming and electronics in awhile and it's starting to show lol.

That is sure to be a cool platform. What type of drive wheels are those? Looks like you have lots of gear reduction built into them.

I used JB Weld a few years ago but it wasn't for an application where strength was a huge requirement. Is that stuff really as strong as they say?

It doesn't say what the ratio is but if I had to guess I'd say anywhere from 150:1 to 200:1.

Yeah, that stuff is really strong (if used right). I think my friend used it to glue a started back onto a car lol.

The deck is now on and so are the casters Very Happy

Those batteries are sure to run those motors for a long time.

I know they're overkill lol but it's all I have except for a smaller 12v battery. But I think it's no good anymore. How would you go about charging it? It's a two amp battery, and right now it reads about 5V. That's probably not good lol.
