hi all. so this is my first mod project.....i have an old dell inspiron 2200 that is slowly but surely losing pieces.....first the battery, then the optical drive, etc. so i figured what the heck, i'll lose nothing, i've wanted for some time a wooden computer. so i'm am in the design phase of my new wooden wonder desktop pc made from the old laptop. i know. insanity.

so really i do have a question to ask. during the modifications i will be adding a USB keyboard/mouse to replace the internal laptop keyboard/touchpad. so can i use the motherboard connector (from the internal keyboard ribbon cable) to attach another device? for example an internal dvd drive? i know this is a strange modification.....but I would much appreciate any advice before i try it!

Thank you much!

Sounds like an interesting project, be sure to post some progress pictures as the project get underway. You would not be able to plug in anything other than a keyboard and pointing device to the internal connectors.

How are you going to carve or machine the wood? One thing I would be careful about would be cooling. But if your goal isn't to keep the system small that should not be a problem.

Good luck! Cool
