I am trying to make a CNC router from an old printer.
I want to discard of all the plastics, and put a stepper motor instead of a DC motor for the thing that drives the print head.
Only trouble is that I don't know how to make some kind of software to control the steppers.
Could anyone help me??

I've got all 3 parts of the manual, thei're 125 pages each.
It ain't helping me, because I've got a PIC16f84.
I want to buy a picaxe 40X2 |

Hey, just got an ideea.
It would be a neat trick to use the printer software to power the CNC.
Printing something PDF like a PCB and having it engraved.
I only want a CNC that can etch circuit boards. |

That would be cool if you could make it work with the existing printer controller board! |

yep
but a printer board at the best of times controlls 2 steppers.
Some HP's controll 3, but the 3'rd is the release for the cartrige.
so any board needs modifications, and I'm concerned about the scaling of the projects |
