Hi,

I just want to ask, is there any way by which PIC microcontroller could be read. I mean its programming. My all the friends are saying it is not possible to read and understand the program in any unknown PIC microcontroller.

Is it really like that?? Shocked

Hi Shy,

In most PIC chips there is a flag that can be set to disable reading of the program data. If this flag is not set then the program data can be read out of it with a device programmer. You would then be able to program another device with the same program.

The program code that would be read out is a compiled version of the original code so it would not be human readable. I am not sure if anyone has made a process to uncompile the code though.
