For this setup. is there a way to connect it to a 12v setup? what do i change to do so..

another thing, i need to make sure that when power is applied, is when it turns on the desired pattern. and when power is off, it turns off of course. i dont want it so that i have to tap the button to power on/off..

Sorry, I thought there was code posted for this unit (you may have to ask the poster if he is willing to share the code).

Making it work on 12 volts is trivial, simply use a regulator.

Making a single pattern start when the power is turned on will require access to the source code since you will have to change the power on condition. This should be as simple as changing one line of code.

As quoted from the site you linked to...

Why not give your PC a different look. If your an over-clocker or any form of PC modder this could be a look you want to get one over on other people. This lighting effect scans from left to right much like the 80's TV show Knight Rider.

How's about trying this one...???

chelapa, are you the same "ve6but" on ebay quering about the 8-led chaser chips to be sold alone?

Presently I have not yet sold chips alone but have sold board kits (with out leds). See here: http://www.anothercoilgunsite.com/cubecart/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=7 If you want just the IC alone I could arrange something.

As for Power:
Well once power is removed it have no choice but to suffer current deprivation. I have yet to perfect perpetual power yet Twisted Evil And yes, the patterns turn on the moment power is applied.

Those close up pictures look great! What setup was used to capture them?

I use printer paper as the base while a sunlight white flourecent bulb sits a few fet over it. A little alteration to the digital camera and in the end a touch up to light levels using Paint Shop. I never use a flash and must use a tripod because I set the camera to a very long exposure > 1 second.
